Laneige in trouble over mainland feud

Laneige has become the latest brand to get caught up in the fight between Hong Kong and mainland Chinese shoppers.The Korean skincare brand's Facebook page was bombarded with complaints yesterday after a Hong Kong netizen left a comment that she was told a certain Christmas package was sold out after the salesperson asked if she was "from mainland China or from Hong Kong".More than 100 complaints were posted on Facebook as of midnight as night, many criticising the brand's preference for mainland customers over local ones and some claiming they would never purchase from the brand again.Laneige issued an apology yesterday afternoon on its official website, stating the company values every customer and has taken actions regarding the incident including improving front line staff training.
