Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE), operator of the largest bouquet of pan-Asian channels dedicated to Asian entertainment, has officially launched the KIX HD Channel in Kuala Lumpur.
To mark the launch, the channel unveiled the second season of Top Gear Korea (TGK), the only Asian adaptation of the world’s most popular motoring show on Astro (Ch.729) this month.
The channel was soft launched in March 2012 last year and has an audience share of 55% male and 45% female, targeting those 20 to 39 years old. The channel’s distribution had also grown 44% on Astro since its soft launch.
Touted as the number one English HD channel in Malaysia (according to Nielsen Media Research Malaysia, May 1- Nov 15, 2012), KIX HD brings audiences action entertainment, such as combat sports, action series, cutting-edge reality shows, such as Bellator Fighting Championships, Mad Dogs and Freak Encounters.
“With Volkswagen as an advertiser currently, we plan to hold more on-ground events and screenings to attract more advertisers,” Magdalene Cheung, director of advertising sales, tells A+M, adding that Malaysia is the only country in which KIX is available on HD.
KIX is also available in Indonesia, Singapore, the Phlippines, Hong Kong, Thailand and Australia.
Headquartered in Hong Kong, CTE operates pay TV channels such as Celestial Movies, Celestial Classic Movies and Celestial Movies on Demand, focusing also on content creation and content distribution targeted at Asian consumers.
