Terry Tsang, executive creative director of J. Walter Thompson Hong Kong, parted ways with the firm in October and opened his own new start-up agency “Narrow Door”, under KK Tsang’s The Bees Group, focusing on brand entertainment and experiential communication.
During his four-year tenure at JWT Hong Kong, he orchestrated the creative work for the firm’s major client HSBC. Prior to JWT, he has worked for agencies including Grey, Leo Burnett and McCann.
The firm will not get a direct replacement, JWT’s CEO Mark Webster told Marketing. “We now have Kym Ma on board as creative director. He and Henry Yim will act as joint creative directors on the account, along with Simon Welsh as chief creative director.”
Tsang said it’s been a privilege and a pleasure for him to lead the creative of Hong Kong’s most iconic brand, adding he’ll miss his colleagues and friends at JWT and HSBC, but he is also “looking forward to starting my own place and being my own boss.”
“Terry is a great creative and a good friend, who’s made a huge contribution both to the agency and our work on HSBC over many years and many late nights. We all wish him well in his new venture, and, with his talent and energy, have no doubt that he’ll make a great success of it,” said COO Simon Welsh.
