Branding agency JKR has appointed one of its founding creatives, John Ewles , as design lead for the Asia region.

Ewles (pictured) will assume the role of creative director in Singapore, with an overview of all creative work for Southeast Asia and Australia. Ewles will join managing director Emily Kousah and strategy director Katie Ewer as a key part of the Singapore leadership team.

Ewles was one of the founding partners at jkr in 1990 and has worked alongside executive creative director Ian Ritchie in the agency’s London headquarters for 25 years. Ewles has creatively directed global brand redesigns for clients including Budweiser, M&Ms and Heinz, as well as leading the creative direction of luxury personal care brand Molton Brown for over ten years.

For the last two years he has also overseen jkr’s work for local clients in the region including The Soup Spoon, Kang Kang noodles and Mount Sapola, and regional brands such as Bonds underwear.

“Demand for charismatic brand design in Asia is growing every day. We want our best team on the ground to take advantage of the opportunity,” Singapore managing director, Emily Kousah said.

“Ewless appointment as creative director of Singapore is proof of our commitment to our clients and the creativity industry in the region. We believe there is unprecedented potential for better branding to make a difference here. We’re looking forward to John continuing our work to elevate the role of design in the marketing mix,” global CEO, Guy Lambert said.
