Experience agency Imagination has appointed Justin Baird as its head of technology for Asia Pacific.
It has hoped that in his position, Baird will be able to use his extensive knowledge and experience to strengthen the agency’s technological and creative offerings.
Antony Gowthorp, managing director of Imagination, commented, “Our vision is to be the region’s leading technology-enabled experience agency. With the pace and adoption of technology in marketing, we see a unique opportunity to further enhance experiences for our clients and their audiences.”
Having held several senior positions across major agencies, Baird possesses more than 20 years of technology consulting experience and agency expertise. One notable example was as managing director of R&D Technology and Innovation at Accenture, where he led the launch of their Liquid Labs programme across APAC. On one occasion he directed and produced the Accenture Interactive Orchestra for Adobe Symposium 2017, which saw an industrial collaborative robot programmed with AI featured as a musical soloist at the Sydney Opera House.
Baird also previously served as an Innovationist at Google, where he delivered the launch of YouTube portals across APAC, patented Google Underwater Street View, and supported numerous consumer product releases. Additionally, Baird was a founding member of the Google Creative Council.
“Baird’s diverse background anchored in solving the impossible through technology solutions is just what we need,” Gowthorp added.
On his appointment, Baird himself commented, “In Australia and across APAC, there are significant opportunities to merge experience design and technology in both the physical and digital worlds. This requires special consideration, but also a unique approach with highly specialised skills, which Imagination is uniquely positioned to deliver.”
