Imagination beefs up China team

Imagination has appointed Alistair Wilson as managing director for in China, based in Shanghai.

Wilson first joined Imagination London in 1998, before moving to Asia in 2005 to spearhead operations in Hong Kong and Shanghai. In 2010 he joined Imagination Australia as board director.

“China is growing in an incredible pace, and our China business has also seen huge growth in the past seven years. It’s an exciting time to join,” Wilson told Marketing.

“We are very proud of the year on year growth of Imagination’s Chinese business, but equally we remain focused on serving our clients with the most innovative creative solutions. I look forward to leading the team as we write the next exciting chapter of Imagination’s story in China.”

Simon Bruxner-Randall, CEO of Imagination Asia Pacific, commented: “During his 17 years with Imagination, Alistair has demonstrated the value of his creative leadership to our clients’ businesses globally. We are delighted he is re-joining the Imagination Asia team to drive our China business from Shanghai and lead our fantastic team to create world class innovative solutions for our clients.”

Over the coming months Imagination will continue to invest into new hires to join its 80 Shanghai team, who recently relocated to its new 2,000 sqm headquarters in Shanghai’s Jing’An District.

Wilson’s appointment has seen him re-shaping the team in China and making a series of team changes and new hires.

This includes the senior hire of Mauricio Estrella as creative director for Imagination Shanghai’s growing digital team.

Wilson said: “Mauricio is an exceptional digital creative with over 13 years of experience in storytelling, digital design, and interactive media. We are delighted to have him join our team as we continue to create incredible and compelling digital experiences for our clients.”
