Iflix rides K-pop wave and ramps up on ground efforts in Malaysia

Online streaming company Iflix is riding the k-pop wave with the addition of highly-anticipated K-drama Goblin, now available in Malaysia. Fast tracked from Korea, two new, fully subtitled episodes will be available on Iflix to both stream and download each week, every Saturday and Sunday, less than 24-hours of each episode’s initial broadcast, beginning December 3.Goblin joins Iflix’s extensive library Korean dramas with the likes of shows such as fantasy drama Secret Garden, romance drama Scent of a Woman, successful drama Princess Hours, successful spin-off drama Prince Hours, and others.CEO of Iflix Malaysia, Azran Osman-Rani said: “We are thrilled to offer this latest hit series from Lee Eung-bok and Kim Eun-sook, the masterminds behind so many of Malaysia’s favourite K-dramas, with each new episode available on Iflix less than 24-hours after its the initial Korean broadcast. This is yet another testament of our commitment to continue to bring the best and most highly anticipated shows available to our subscribers in Malaysia.”Meanwhile the company has also concluded its first "The Iflix Experience" Roadshow at Sunway Pyramid. The roadshow was held over five days from 30 November 2016 until 4 December 2016 and sought to bring the experience of Iflix to Malaysians,During the roadshow, all new customers were given a three month free trial courtesy of Iflix, and  were also treated to a lucky draw to win limited edition merchandise or upgrade their Iflix subscription to up to 12 months.The company also brought in celebrities to ramp up its publicity. Celebrity appearances included Sazzy Falak, Nash Idrus, Afdlin Shauki, Yasmin Hani, Sha'arin Razali Wong, K-town Clan, and An Honest Mistake, as well as special character appearances by Flora and Bloom of Winx Club and Malaysia’s favourite twins, Upin and Ipin.Children also had a chance to participate in the roadshow through various activities which included a colouring contest to win limited edition Hi-5 merchandise as well as a dance-off to walk away with exclusive meet and greet passes for the Hi-5 cast and Hi-5 Fairytale concert tickets for this December’s show at Istana Budaya.
