Founded in October 2013, mobile logistics startup EasyVan has reached 100,000 users and locked in 5,000 drivers in just eight months. In this video, Shing Chow, founder and CEO of EasyVan, shares how the app actually makes money, what makes Hong Kong an ideal place for mobile apps and tips on how to make a successful mobile app.https://vimeo.com/99199454The van and trucks market, which sees 76K drivers in comparison to 8K in the taxi market, is highly potential in Chow's view."Traditional call centers are still using voice to connect users and drivers, it takes a long matching time from 15 minutes up. On our app, the transaction between users placing orders to picking up orders takes only 5 seconds. It is a leap in efficiency," Chow said at Marketing's Big Data and Digital Innovation 2014 conference yesterday.Equipped with GPS pinpoints drivers location, details information of drivers, drivers ratings and reviews, the app, which had an initial investment of US$1million, stands out by utilising data to improve the prime model to make performance pledges such as reply in 30sec or van arriving in 5 mins."The rating system aims to provides incentive to drives to maintain a high-quality level as best rated drivers get priority on orders pick up."Being able to express opinion is a key incentive for users to opt for the app, Chow believes."Our interface is tailor-made easily for users to express opinions and rate drivers. When consumers can place comment easily, they tend to give feedback.""We do everything we can and let the market and data tell us the answers," Chow concluded.http://youtu.be/xalbL_PxWGo
