Hong Leong Assurance (HLA) has appointed Loke Kah Meng as the new chief operating officer effective from 1st August 2017. Loke’s role is to drive and execute strategies that are instrumental to HLA’s continuous desire to create and accentuate the key factors to enhance business value creation to further solidify its position as the nation’s top domestic life insurance company.
In addition, Loke (pictured) will lead the bancassurance, alternative channels, strategic marketing and product development departments. Loke brings to HLA a wealth of experience in senior management level, having worked for over 30 years in key areas such as product marketing and development, bancassurance, business development, actuarial, operations, risk management and stakeholder relations with leading international insurance companies in Malaysia.
Prior to his appointment at HLA, Loke was the managing director and chief executive officer of AXA Affin Life Insurance, where he was accountable for the company’s growth and performance as well as determining the overall strategic direction of the company. Previously, Loke was the executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Great Eastern Life Assurance, where he developed and grew bestselling health insurance products alongside a full suite of customer-centric services.
He was also executive vice president and appointed actuary of Manulife Insurance, where he substantially reduced administrative expense ratios while improving shareholder earnings. Kah Meng was also responsible for introducing investment-linked products that became one of the mainstays of the company’s sales.
