As much as we like it, there are moments when selfies don’t work.In a bid to enhances its digital services, Hong Kong Disneyland has rolled out its new photo-taking programme PhotoPass Plus. The new product allows visitors to acquire a digital portfolio of all of the souvenir photos taken during their visit to the theme park.“When you are on an amusement ride, or when you are too occupied with a handful of souvenirs. It’s always nice to have a photographer taking them all for you,” said Ivan Lee, director of corporate alliance of Hong Kong Disneyland. The theme park has for long introduced Disney photographers into the park, in which photographers would take pictures for guests at certain points, and guests could buy and print their desired photos in designated sale location, but it decides to go one step further into the digital realm.A new app, PhotoPass, is set to revamp the old business model in Hong Kong.In alliance with pictureAir and Fujifilm, the newly launched app enables instant photo previews after scanning the QR code of a Disney PhotoPass Card, which identifies unique individual photos.Guests can instantly purchase individual photos on the app using a credit card without having to visit a photo sale location. While Hong Kong Disneyland is responsible for the contents, pictureAir is the developer and imaging provider of the app, and Fujifilm provides all the hardware in the project. In Asia, the service has already been launched in Shanghai Disney Resort. Lee said it is crucial to ride on the mobile trends to enhance guest experiences in the park.“It is certainly more convenient to have all your magic moments stored in the phone.” He said. The “Disney PhotoPass Plus” package is now available in the park, and Lee said it would expand the programme and launch more packages in coming months.
