GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Pharmaceutical has announced Erum Shakir Rahim (pictured) as general manager for Malaysia, taking over Luis Arosemena, effective March 2013.
Arosemena moves on to take a new portfolio within GSK as vice president for corporate strategy in the UK.
In her new role, Rahim will oversee the operations for the company’s portfolio across the various therapeutic areas such as vaccines, respiratory and urology.
“GSK Malaysia’s position as one of the leading pharmaceutical companies offers a platform to grow the business further and contribute to the success of the Asia Pacific area. We plan to capitalise on this platform by leading a diverse team of sales, marketing and business development professionals,” said Rahim.
Rahim was previously director of marketing and business development of GSK Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan. She also contributed to GSK Pakistan’s current position as the largest pharmaceutical company in the country, with 12% market share and eight GSK brands in the top 20.
Rahim holds a master’s degree in Mass Communications from University of Karachi and has over 20 years of experience in GSK.
