GroupM celebrated the opening of its new Shanghai headquarters on 6 January.
Spread across seven floors of the WPP Campus, the new headquarters provides more open areas to inspire creativity and consolidate people. Employees also got involved in the office design.
“Our business is built around talent. A great working environment, more benefits, staff activities, and career development opportunities are what we have kept working on for our talents,” said Mark Patterson, GroupM Asia Pacific CEO.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Patrick Xu, GroupM China CEO, said collaboration would change the media landscape in 2016.
“Chinese consumers are evolving through their cautious purchasing behaviours and the way in which they want to be engaged with. More and more vertical channels will emerge to meet their various needs, but the competition will be fierce in each vertical field,” he said.
“In terms of client investment patterns, giants are diverting media spending and increasingly focusing on efficiency whereas mid-size clients who in fact continue to grow.”
In 2016, Xu said the group and its agencies will mainly focus on innovating its media planning approach, creative marketing solutions, the application of data and new technologies, mobile and programmatic buying.
Last July, WPP revealed its new WPP Shanghai Campus at 399 Heng Feng Road, Shanghai, bringing together 26 WPP companies and more than 3,000 people.
