Globe rolls out “iPhone Forever” program

If you've got an itch for the new iPhone, but scared of doing so because of its hefty price tag, Globe Telecom is trying to help.Days before the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s gets unveiled, the telco announced that customers can trade-in their mobile phones for the latest iPhone devices in an upgrade program called “iPhone Forever.”The program essentially let Globe users upgrade to a new iPhone every year for free or at a reduced cost, depending on the unit being traded in.Those who plan to swap their iPhone 4S or iPhone5, for example, need not to pay a one-time cashout but those who will be upgrading from lower models like the Samsung S3 Mini need to pay up P11,999.Trade-in programs have been all the rage among telcos and some tech brands like HTC and Blackberry because mobile devices get out-dated as quickly as new versions are released.Telcos utilize these programs to capitalize on consumers who want the latest models of devices they already own – considering that brands such as Apple update their line up annually.Subscribers also get a one-month free subscription to Globe Gadget Care, a phone protection program against theft and accidental damage, and free access to Facebook until January 2014.Those who will get the latest iPhone on launch day on 15 November gets a free 1-year subscription to GCASH Virtual Pay and up to 50% off on iPhone accessories. The Globe iPhone Forever trade-in promo runs from 15 November 15 till end-year.
