Former CEO of Singapore Tourism Board (STB) Lionel Yeo has taken on the role of CEO Advisor at Grab. He was last with STB until 31 May 2018 and had been with the company over six years.
Grab has confirmed the move to Marketing, stating: “Grab is honoured that Lionel Yeo has joined us as CEO advisor, following his recent departure from the civil service.”
In addition to his involvement on several boards, Yeo’s experience from an illustrious career spanning 22 years in the public sector will add insight and value to the leadership team, said the Grab spokesperson.
“He will steer the organisation through our next phase of growth, as we work towards building Southeast Asia’s first everyday super app,” the statement added.
Yeo first took on the role with STB in June 2012, and spearheaded the development of “Passion Made Possible”, a unified brand for Singapore launched in August last year together with the Economic Development Board and Ministry of Communications and Information.
His tenure also saw the initiative of projects such as Singapore: Inside Out, which showcased creative talent to refresh international perceptions of Singapore, and Design Orchard to profile Singapore’s design talent on Orchard Road.
Yeo led STB’s robust events strategy, which supported more than 900 events over the last five years. Yeo’s contributions also extend to working with industry leaders to drive productivity, innovation and skills initiatives in the hotel, travel agent, MICE and tourist guide industries.
Since his departure, The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) has appointed Keith Tan Kean Loong (pictured) as chief executive of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) with effect from 29 October 2018.
