Marketing veteran and brand lead for property giant Sunway Group Shirley Foenander is leaving the company after two years in the role.
Foenander, who was previously vice president – marketing communications, menu management and supply chain for McDonald’s Singapore, joined Sunway in August 2012.
Before McDonald’s, Foenander led Euro RSCG Malaysia and Singapore (now known as Havas Worldwide) as CEO.
With that, Advertising + Marketing understands the company has also swapped media agencies, dropping MediaVest for a new agency. Sunway has not responded to queries at the time of publishing, but sources close to the business suggest that it has gone to a GroupM agency.
Meanwhile, Mediavest has responded with this statement: “When we started out with Sunway 4 years ago, it was a plain vanilla buying partnership. Within a year we grew and expanded the business to include planning. We also started Sunway on their digital journey increasing digital spend to 12% in 2013. Parting is a sweet sorrow but till we meet again, I wish Sunway the best,” said Piyee Wong, managing director MediaVest Malaysia.
A+M understands that Sunway also has its own inhouse creative agency, AdAsia, which holds a significant portion of its marketing duties.
The Sunway group owns Sunway Bhd and Sunway Reits Bhd. In 2013, it chalked up a net profit in 2013 of RM1.5 billion.
