The nation's latest weekly English-language business newspaper Focus Malaysia was officially launched last Friday at an event graced by media as well as advertisers.Published by HCK Media every Friday, the paper is the latest addition to the stable of business publications already in the market. In his speech, KK Chong, senior vice president, media and technology HCK Capital Group, said the paper is the ideal media vehicle for advertisers wishing to target business leaders, who make up 75% of its readers, and it offers attractive packages for advertisers."The idea of the newspaper is to provide alternative views and reports of the business landscape in Malaysia since there is a lack of in-depth and holistic content even in the mainstream and niche publications," editor-in-chief Chong Cheng Hai (pictured centre) toldA+M.In his editor's note, Chong wrote, "Monopoly is bad news for business, advertisers and consumers. Competition fosters and nurtures creativity, innovation and excellence."Priced competitively at RM4.50 (Peninsula Malaysia) and RM5.50 (East Malaysia), Focus Malaysia has a current circulation of 20,000 (unaudited by ABC), with plans to increase that to 50,000 by end 2014.Focus Malaysia will be available at most major newsstands across Malaysia every Friday, with the first four issues being complimentary. The online portal will be available some time next year.
