Starcom MediaVest will be holding its internal awards program called the Global Product Committee Meeting (GPC) in the Philippines for the first time on 28 October. The GPC is made up of 30 members which review and select stand-out campaigns from thousands of entries submitted by Starcom offices in Southeast Asia, Greater China, India, Europe, US, Latin America, MENA and Australia.Held twice a year, the GPC panel determines 250 of the best cases annually for the global finalists. Winners are announced in a conference, which will be held in Dubai next February.Speaking with Marketing, John Sintras, chairman of Starcom MediaVest Australia and the GPC, said it was high time to recognize the consistency and quality of work coming out from the Manila office, currently headed by general manager Joanna Mojica.“It was APAC's turn to host our group and most of us have not visited Manilla, but mostly because our local Manilla office is very strong having won [the 4As] Agency of the Year, and the product they are producing has developed considerably."“We wanted to reward that achievement, but also provide them with the opportunity to learn from some of our global product leaders and help them become even more recognise on the global stage,” he adds.Sintras said Starcom Philippines have submitted 3 entries so far in the last GPC held last July of which 2 have already been selected as finalists. They have submitted a further 3 cases for judging in the Manilla leg.The GPC has 3 main internal categories that benchmark entries in the areas of Culture, Humanity, and Working Smarter.Other categories recognize consumer facing campaigns which include best examples of Human Understanding, Creativity, Experience Design, Business Effectiveness and Next, which Sintras explains rewards leading edge new communication and business models.
