After a highly-publicised longterm absence from public view, Chinese celebrity Fan Bing Bing has announced the launch of an eponymous beauty brand, Fan Beauty, on the company’s Weibo account. The star, who is known for her fair and good complexion, has since released a video of herself vouching for the brand.
The post accompanying the video – which has garnered over 760 likes on Weibo within two days – said that Fan Beauty’s face masks are the “secret” to Fan Bing Bing’s beauty. Product teasers started appearing on Fan Beauty’s Weibo account as early as 29 January. The account has garnered over 29,000 fans to date.
According to Fan, sales for the brand will kick off in Hong Kong on Friday.
According to various media reports, Fan was avoiding public appearances for several months following a tax evasion scandal in May 2018, with the actress only issuing an apology last October. The celebrity has been reviving her presence on social media since the start of this year.
Globally, some eponymous beauty brands by celebrities have seen great success. In 2016, the Kendo division of LVMH Moët Hennesy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) signed on singer Rihanna in what is estimated to be a 10 million dollar deal for her luxury make-up line Fenty Beauty.
