With five gold awards, four silver and a bronze, Leo Burnett Group Malaysia showcased its industry prowess at tonight’s Agency of the Year Awards, by clinching the overall title for the third consecutive time. Some of the categories it won gold for were in Creative, Content Marketing and Public Relations Agency of the Year.
Probably already eyeing next year’s overall title is M&C Saatchi Malaysia. The agency, through M&C Saatchi-i, managed to bag the gold trophies in Digital and Social Marketing categories, and a silver for Creative Agency of the Year.
Media Agency of the Year winner went to Zenith Malaysia, edging out last year’s winner Carat who took home the silver. Zenith Malaysia also grabbed gold for Mobile Marketing Agency of the Year.

The Awards also recognises Malaysia-born agencies by handing the most successful agencies of the year the Local Heroes trophies. VLT took four of these awards while LOCUS-T Online won both the local hero and gold awards for Search Marketing Agency of the Year.
Last night also saw the MARKies being handed out. Winning the Overall Creative Ideas MARKie was Dentsu Malaysia, while OMD Malaysia took the Overall Media Usage title.
The fight for the Media Usage overall title was a tight one, after Carat Malaysia, Maxus Malaysia and OMD Malaysia each secured two wins in the Media Usage categories. It then boiled down to percentages difference between the three agencies and ultimately coming up on top was OMD Malaysia.
Dentsu Malaysia however breezed its way through to the Creative Ideas overall title after clinching four trophies that include Best Idea – Integrated Media and Best Idea – Print.
FCB Kuala Lumpur, MullenLowe Malaysia, Universal McCann and Vizeum Media Services were some of the other MARKies winners at the awards.
This is the Awards’ seventh edition since it started in 2010 as an agency awards programme judged solely by client marketers. Nineteen senior client marketers representing brands such as BMW Group Malaysia, Celcom Axiata, Samsung Malaysia Electronics, Tenaga Nasional among others, took part in the judging process this year.
The Awards was sponsored by NBCUniversal and supported by partner Tiger Beer.
