Advertising + marketing (A+M) magazine’s Agency of the Year (AOTY) Malaysia turns 10 this year, recognising the best agencies throughout Malaysia for their top performance and campaigns produced for the local market in 2018. The 2019 awards will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 9 May and will celebrate the achievements of some of Malaysia’s most outstanding agencies.
A highlight of the industry, AOTY is held together with the MARKies Awards; both are judged solely by an independent jury of senior client-side marketers. AOTY seeks to recognise top-performing agencies in Malaysia based on their solutions, services, and business performance; while the MARKies Awards rewards agencies’ creative work by celebrating the most innovative and effective campaigns.
This year, 14 categories are open for entry for AOTY, adding two new categories to include an even broader spectrum of agency capabilities – Programmatic Agency of the Year and Specialist Agency of the Year. Along with Gold, Silver, Bronze and the much coveted Local Hero award per category, an overall Agency of the Year as well as an all-new overall Local Hero of the Year will define the highest performing agencies in Malaysia.
As for the MARKies Awards, a redefined scoring criteria that will better benchmark best ideas and best media use will ensure that each and every entry is given the chance it deserves to shine. With 31 categories across two segments – Creative Ideas and Media Usage – 2019 sees five new categories introduced to cover a more diverse range of marketing mediums. Gold, Silver and Bronze will be awarded for each category, including an overall winner for the Creative Ideas and Media Usage segments respectively.
Last year’s record number of over 500 entries across the two co-located events saw agencies vying to be recognised as one of Malaysia’s industry best. This year, A+M magazine expects an even bigger reception judging from some of 2018’s most viral and engaging marketing campaigns.
