Agency of the Year and MARKies Malaysia 2019 shortlist out

Its time! The shortlists are out for Advertising + Marketing’s Agency of the Year Awards Malaysia running for its tenth time. Outstanding products and services, business performance, people and perspectives formed the core criteria in the shortlist of the best of the best across 14 defining categories available for entry.

The shifting Malaysian agency landscape with many network agencies breaking out to become independent, local agencies saw a jump in the number of local entrants versus network organisations. Close to 50% of entering companies were locally-owned and managed. Co-located with the MARKies Awards Malaysia, this year received a record number of entries. The MARKies Awards recognises the most creative and effective campaigns produced by agencies in partnership with their clients.

Tough competition within Malaysia’s marketing and advertising services industry saw an increase in the number of agencies that made it to the shortlist, with judges commenting on the higher standards set for the industry as the main reason why so many submissions were close contenders.

Overall, this year’s MARKies saw 31 refreshed categories up for contest across two main segments – Creative Ideas and Media Usage. The awards saw 647 entries in total with 151 unique participating agencies overall. All entries were judged by an independent panel of 26 client-side marketers. Lets take a look at their favourites.
