Sony Pictures Television has hired Edelman as its public relations agency to support a renewed programming push across Asia and other major projects.
The account will be lead out of Edelman’s Hong Kong office by senior director Andres Vejarano and senior manager Amy Perkins.
Sony’s Asia Pacific senior vice president of distribution Angel Orengo confirmed the news to Marketing and said the firm would play a big role in promoting its line up of new content, which he said received a positive response at the upfront screenings held in LA in early May.
The shows include Charlie’s Angels, Pan Am, Necessary Roughness (pictured), Combat Hospital and Unforgettable, all of which are yet to screen in Asia.
Sony Pictures Television had previously used Hong Kong PR firm Madison Communications but Orengo said it was looking to ramp up its programming push.
