Edelman appoints health manager

Edelman has appointed Sahana Prabhakar (pictured) as senior manager of its health practice, effective immediately.

In her new role, Prabhakar reports to Raymond Siva, managing director of Edelman Malaysia.

Siva said that healthcare is of primary importance to Malaysians as issues ranging from healthcare coverage and the quality of healthcare professionals, to hospitalisation and drug costs, are issues that need lucid enunciation and empathy.

“With Prabhakar’s appointment, we are confident in building a health team with depth to counsel for both local and global health clients,” added Siva.

Edelman continues to strengthen its team in the near future to offer healthcare clients counsel in digital, market access, risk assessment, promoting wellness and corporate reputation management.

Prabhakar brings a total of seven years’ experience working with multinational healthcare clients such as Quintiles, AstraZeneca and Sanofi.

Prabhakar was transferred to Edelman Malaysia after spending two years in the Edelman India office, where she provided counsel on corporate reputation, employee engagement and brand management for global pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.

Prabhakar has worked extensively with organisations in the healthcare, finance and technology sectors. Her experience includes counselling clients on issues management, corporate reputation management, executive positioning and profiling, and brand power management.

She managed multi-stakeholder communications for a number of complex issues that impacted business operations, working extensively on clients such as Kotak Mahindra Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, Quintiles (Clinical Research Organisation), Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS), Vodafone Essar and Vodafone International during the span of her career.

She also holds a post-graduate diploma in public relations and communications from Xavier Institute of Communications in Mumbai.
