As Merdeka draws near, Malaysian property developer Eco World Development Group Berhad and The Star have partnered up to launch the #AnakAnakMalaysia campaign.
The partnership will see #AnakAnakMalaysia wristbands being distributed across Malaysia with copies of The Star. The campaign will also run across radio and online until 16 September.
As part of the campaign, The Star readers can snap a photo with the wristband and share what it means to be Malaysian with the hashtag #AnakAnakMalaysia. These photos will then be collated and shared of a specially created website. On Facebook, a digital band is created so that users can inter it in their pictures and spread the nationalistic spirit.
In an article on The Star, Eco World Development Group Berhad chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin was quoted saying that the group wanted to celebrate 58 years of Merdeka in a special way. He added that the through the campaign, the company wanted to honour the “sacrifices” of the nation’s forefathers and “celebrate the spirit of unity”.
“The cultural diversity that we enjoy in Malaysia is something unique to us and one that we should be very proud of. The band is a reminder to all of us that we are Malaysians first and we should be proud to be one,” he added.
Star Media Group Berhad chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow said :
