Easy Taxi has renewed its partnership with social communications app WeChat. Now users can use WeChat to book their Easy Taxi rides in Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, after a pilot programme for the initiative was launched in Singapore last July. Passengers will have deals and promotions made exclusive to WeChat and Easy Taxi users.Jianggan Li, managing director, Easy Taxi Singapore, said:  “We are happy to renew our partnership with WeChat, benefitting our users in Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. The move further supports our regional footprint, and the synergies between both apps will allow for a greater mobility among smartphone users in our partner cities."Li further explained how the partnership is beneficial to both brands, as offering a taxi booking functionality abroad enables WeChat to be part of one of the world’s most disruptive technologies among startups. On the other hand, Easy Taxi expands its reach across millions of WeChat users.Poshu Yeung (pictured), vice president of international business group, Tencent, the company behind the WeChat app, said: “The response we have had in Singapore was quite overwhelming, and we wanted to offer the same privilege to our users outside of the island-nation."Apart from Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, plans are underway to launch the partnership in countries where both apps are available.
