e-commerce expands its reach across the region,  a directory portal supported by worldwide halal trustmark, is expected to generate RM300 million in turnover in its first year of operations. The portal will also now be available in Singapore, Indonesia, China and South Korea, reported local news.

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the “e-Halal mall will help Malaysia establish itself as a halal hub for the e-commerce trade” and help halal suppliers expand their e-commerce business as more countries are now viewing halal market as an “emerging market force”.

The Star also reported that the local government has set a target of RM114 billion to the country GDP by 2020. The article also said to garner awareness of the halal trade, HDC has enlisted 10 e-commerce partners under its platform. These are (China), 11street (South Korea),, JOCOM, Tiara TV and Global Halal Data Pool.
