Duriana app hits the market for re-commerce

MyDEAL.com.my has launched a mobile marketplace app Duriana for both iPhone and Android devices. The app allows users to buy and sell item, and aims to change the way Malaysians make transactions.Duriana will provide a re-commerce method of buying and selling – giving second hand or pre-loved items a new face.Amanda Ernst, co-founder of Duriana said, “On Duriana, you are shopping from the closets of your friends, favourite blogshops and bazaar sellers. Simply take a picture with your phone, add a descriptioin and you’re listed in the marketplace in less than 30 seconds.”Duriana launched last month in Singapore to which its team has started seeing synergies in the way Malaysians engage in the buy and sell paradigm.“We’ve learned that Malaysians prefer cash on deliver and Whatsapp communication in most interactions. Sellers here like to leave their Whatsapp number across their listings to make communication easier and faster,” said Ernst.Camilo Paredes, co-founder of Duriana has shared that Malaysia is not the final stop for the app. He believes that it will revolutionise peer-to-peer buying across the whole of Southeast Asia.“Duriana is starting out with a major partnership with deal gurus (deal.com.sg and MyDeal.com.my), integrating it with the popular e-commerce site and will be prominently featured on the homepage and in newsletters to the group’s large user base.”The app has already seen RM 2.6 million in investment after its 6 weeks launch.
