Drink promoted as "Durian White Coffee" lands 5 in hospital

Five people were admitted to a Penang hospital after drinking an instant durian coffee promoted as "Durian White Coffee", said Malaysian health minister S Subramaniam on Wednesday (31 January). Samples of the mixture have been sent for analysis. The result is expected to be out soon, Subramaniam said, adding an announcement would be made on the matter, according to Bernama. The health minister added, that the name of the brand will be announced and "its manufacturer will be ordered to withdraw the product from the market", if result shows that the coffee mixture contains "prohibited items". The news comes after photos and videos of what appeared to be the two patients suffering went viral online.State health department's director Wan Mansor Hamzah said all the five patients, showed similar symptoms of lethargy after consuming the drink. In a Facebook post below, health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, said the health ministry learnt about the incident via mobile text messaging app Whatsapp.
