Draftfcb nabs CEO Greater China from Ogilvy

Draftfcb has appointed Edward Bell, the former regional planning director of Ogilvy and Mather, as CEO in Greater China to lead its Greater China business growth.Reporting to global CEO Carter Murray, Bell will start working for the agency in March and remain based in Shanghai.In his 20 years industry experience, Bell has worked across local and multinational brands including Nikon, Chanel and Philips. He has worked on several personal care brands including Dove and various premium beauty brands.His appointment comes after the closure of Draftfcb Hong Kong in November, as the agency shifted its focus to China.“Greater China is a major market for Draftfcb and one where clients are asking for strong strategy,” Murray said. “Edward’s astute insights, enviable track record delivering successful solutions and the way he has immersed himself into the culture and language makes him the ideal executive for the role.”Bell joins the agency from Ogilvy Asia Pacific where he was \regional planning director. Bell has also served as director of marketing communication for Adidas Greater China.“I’ve completely absorbed myself in the China market for the large majority of my career," Bell said. "I find the brands, clients and cultures fascinating and invigorating."
