Domino’s expands in Sabah following RM4m spend on market analysis and tech

Domino’s Pizza is opening a new store in Sabah. The new store located in Riverson, Kota Kinabalu marks the third store in Sabah following the opening of its first two in Bundusan and Inanam.  With the opening of its latest store, Domino’s Pizza is available nationwide with 227 stores and counting.

Ba U Shan-Ting, CEO of Domino’s Pizza Malaysia & Singapore said, the entry into Sabah reflects the brand’s promise of ‘It’s All About You’. “We have always had our sights set on Sabah and our fans reminded us that they were ready for us here,” he said.

Prior to its opening, Domino’s had invested a substantial amount of over RM4 million to undertake market analysis, infrastructure, talent and technology development to ensure preparedness and smooth operations in delivering quality service and products in Sabah. “Thanks to our supportive customers here, we are excited to announce that Domino’s Pizza will be opening two more stores in Sabah by end of the year and we aim to open our market in Sarawak in the next two years. This is all in line with our target of hitting 300 stores in 2020,” he added.

In conjunction with the introduction of Domino’s Pizza in Kota Kinabalu, and living up to the spirit of It’s All About You, a special partnership with MASWings was formed to create the first ever Domino’s experience on flight as well as to extend deliveries to remote towns in Sabah. Leading up to the official opening, Pusat Jagaan Anak-Anak Yatim Rumah Al Yakin in Sandakan were among the first to try out Domino’s Pizza for the very first time. The initiative marks a clear representation of the brand’s promise in creating memorable experiences for its customers and the community. The Domino’s MASWings flight, decked out in Domino’s logos and branding was especially arranged to fly the pizzas from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan.

During his speech, Steve Pizziol, VP, International, Asia Pacific Region, Domino’s Pizza International said Malaysia is an exciting and vibrant market. “Congratulations to the Domino’s Pizza Malaysia team for sustaining a great momentum in continuously growing the market. This demonstrates the team’s strong capabilities in developing a well-balanced international brand with solid local insights and understanding,” he added.
