For the 2015 Malaysia day, Digi wanted to spread a little positivity to celebrate the Malaysia Day festivities. Digi was aware that Malaysians were going through some challenges as a nation, and as a society and wanted to remind Malaysians why they still loved the country. The agency worked with Naga DDB and uncovered that many Malaysians aren't as proud of their country as they should be. Hence the two wanted to tell a story that made them fall in love with the nation once again.“We started with the word ‘Malaysia’, and discovered that it was the most popular baby name after a country in the USA. Inspired by this amazing fact, we proposed a story where we tracked down an American named Malaysia, and introduced her to our beautiful nation,” said Wong Sen Kiat, creative director of Naga DDB. The search led Digi to search through the internet, looking for the perfect candidate. However, through circumstance and sheer luck, Digi found a lady named Malaysia Rani from Malaysia and the team reached out to her, and featured her in a Malaysian National Day press ad.With Malaysia Rani's help, Digi also put out a call for any other Malaysians named "Malaysia" to get involved with the project with the hastag #KitaMalaysia.Take a look at the "Nama Paling Power" teaser video:https://youtu.be/SBKqLcTO1R4[gallery link="file" ids="110894,110898"]Numerous emails and phone calls later, another Malaysian teenager that shared this namesake were found. Both were from different worlds, and both had to endure teasing throughout their childhood. The brand curious to find out what led to this teasing, dug a little deeper to find out their story which led to the campaign "Finding Malaysia: Digi Malaysia Day 2015":Watch the story below:https://youtu.be/8clHy6LQpDA“We hope that this story will inspire Malaysians to remember that we can all share Malaysia, even if we share nothing else. Malaysia is our home, and there's a place for all of us if we just stick together,” Wong added.
