Dentsu Aegis Network appoints Derek Huang as chief product officer, media brands

Dentsu Aegis Network China has appointed Derek Huang as chief product officer, media brands (Carat, Vizeum, dentsu X), effective from January 2019.

In this new role, Huang will lead the design and creation of Dentsu Aegis Network China’s product development roadmap across Dentsu Aegis Network’s media brands. He will work with product experts across different agencies to develop the product community, uplift the network’s media product offerings and drive joint product development with leading partners in the market.

Based in Shanghai, Huang will report to Dentsu Aegis Network China’s CEO Susana Tsui, who said Huang is a perfect for this role. “China’s media landscape is evolving faster and becoming more sophisticated than ever; we are fully focused on providing the right products and solutions to help our clients thrive in a disruptive digital economy. Huang has a fascinating combination of rational analysis and passionate creativity. With his rich expertise in brand and product development, I believe he will be instrumental in delivering our future facing products for media,” said Tsui.

Huang joined Carat China in 2012 as head of business science and insights for Carat. He has led the development of key products for strategy, planning and measurement including CCS, the largest syndicated consumer database in China. In 2016 he was promoted to the role of regional head of insights and research for Carat and Dentsu Aegis Network. In this position, Huang spearheaded best practices and led teams responsible for insights, research and data analysis across 14 markets, as well as working closely with regional product and data science teams in delivering innovative media products and partnerships.

Under his leadership, a number of key products and initiatives were launched, such as Insight 360, Data fusions, and pioneering artificial intelligence solutions that leverage key global partnerships and platforms. Prior to his experience in Carat and Dentsu Aegis, he was a senior brand strategy consultant, serving top Chinese and international clients.
