With Tyson Wheatley leaving CNN for a role with Instagram later this month, CNN’s head of CNN Travel Andrew Demaria will take over the CNN editorial digital team across Asia.
Wheatley, known as much for his Instagram photos as his role at CNN, is moving to the US to work for the Facebook-owned company.
Demaria will retain his duties for CNN Travel but will also oversee the cnn.com news team around the region.
Nick Wrenn, vice president of digital services for CNN International, said Demaria was a natural fit for the expanded role.
“Andrew has great experience at CNN having worked in Asia and Europe, across news and sponsored features, digital and TV,” he said.
Demaria launched and led CNNGo out of Hong Kong and last year successfully created a new travel service for CNN.com International which CNN said has so far surpassed all its growth targets.
