Cummings gets top marketing role at Philips

Former regional digital and social media lead Damien Cummings has signed on a new role as regional vice president and chief marketing officer for Philips ASEAN & Pacific, reporting directly to CEO of Philips ASEAN & Pacific, Harjit Gill.He was retrenched by Samsung earlier last year, as part of major changes taking place in the company with the entrance of new CEO KK Park, Marketing understands.Cummings confirmed the appointment to Marketing. He made this announcement on his blog: “For the last couple of months I’ve taken time out to reassess and focus on what’s important in life – friends, family, being healthy, giving back to the community and sharing my knowledge. It also gave me a unique opportunity to focus on finding a new role at a company that was more closely aligned to my values – a company that focuses on helping people and improving people’s lives,” adding that he was approached by Philips for this role.His role will focus on three key areas: building the brand in the region (“it’s already number 40 in Interbrand’s top 100 global brands” said Cummings); implementing best-in-class communications and social media practices and making Philips a digital marketing leader.He will begin in his new role in February and has made an open call for others to join him.
