CSM names group MD

Sport and entertainment business, CSM, has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Sophie Goldschmidt as group managing director.Goldschmidt will join CSM in March 2016 from her role as chief commercial and marketing officer at the Rugby Football Union (RFU) where she has been leading all revenue-generating areas of the organisation as well as marketing, digital and communications.  Reporting to CSM’s Group CEO, Zak Brown, Goldschmidt will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, supporting the various agencies, driving strategic commercial ventures across CSM’s global operations and managing the group’s brand development and marketing.Goldschmidt has worked in North American markets and across EMEA in both sports management and marketing and communications across a number of sporting organisations, including the iconic National Basketball Association (NBA), the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and Adidas America.Zak Brown, Group CEO, CSM said: “The global sponsorship market is strong and sport as a share is growing with new events and initiatives, new markets and new brands entering the sector.  CSM sits at the heart of this industry, challenging the status quo, driving innovation, engagement and activation.  Sophie’s global sport and commercial experience will help us grow in the highly competitive sports and entertainment sectors.”Goldschmidt said: “CSM has the passion, innovation, people and global footprint to drive and develop these sectors.  I am looking forward to working with the all the agencies to further develop the global business strategy, commercial and partnership opportunities and to help with international expansion of the group, particularly in our priority markets of North America and Asia.”
