Crampton promoted to global MD at Social@Ogilvy

Ogilvy & Mather has announced today that Thomas Crampton, Social@Ogilvy’s Asia Pacific regional director, has been promoted to global managing director with immediate effect.As global MD, Crampton will provide leadership on social for all disciplines globally, with a strong emphasis on the integration of owned, earned and paid media, as well as effective content creation. Since joining Ogilvy in 2009, Crampton has spearheaded the rapid growth of Ogilvy’s Asia Pacific social media offering from a few team members to more than 200 staff across 23 cities in 19 Asian territories. Client billings in Asia are expected to accelerate by more than 40% in 2013.“Social selling, social shopping, social brand development and social influence will continue to be major growth drivers and an essential part of Ogilvy’s integrated approach,” said Miles Young, Worldwide Chairman and CEO of Ogilvy & Mather. “We are thrilled to have Thomas leading this key part of our business.”“Thomas has been an inspirational leader in Asia Pacific over the past five years, launching Social@Ogilvy across the whole region, and creating signature properties such as the Social Media Matters event” said Young. “He deeply understands the rapidly changing world of digital and social media and will bring both the agency and our clients forward on effective social strategies.”Passionately involved in digital since 2004, Crampton writes a widely read blog, thomascrampton.com, and is a frequent keynote speaker at high profile conferences around the world, from the World Economic Forum in Davos to Le Web in Paris, Cannes Lions and DLD in Munich."It has been an honor to work with such a dynamic team amid Asia's complex social media landscape," Crampton said.
