The Coca-Cola company slashes jobs globally

The Coca-Cola Company is looking to streamline at least 1,600 to 1,800 jobs globally. According to the Wall Street Journal, The Coca-Cola Company confirmed that it has been informing its staff about the cuts since Thursday and the layoffs are a part of a US$3 billion cost-cutting drive.In a statement to Marketing, The Coca-Cola Company said that this is part of its recently announced, multi-year productivity initiative. When asked how the move would impact the APAC market, a spokesperson said that the different parts of the business will announce changes at various times as they finalise their redesign models.“At this time, we can’t provide the number of cuts expected in Asia Pacific.  Productivity is an ongoing process at The Coca-Cola Company.  We will continuously look for ways to streamline our business and drive growth as our business and our operating model evolve,” she said.She also explained that the company is redesigning its operating model to streamline and simplify the structure to accelerate the growth of global business.“As we have acknowledged previously, this redesign work will result in impacts to jobs across our global operations. We do not take decisions about job impacts lightly. We have committed that we will ensure fair, equitable and compassionate treatment of our people throughout this process,” said the spokesperson.
