South Korea-based Cheil Worldwide, with regional headquarters in Singapore, will reopen its office in Kuala Lumpur, as confirmed by Cheil Singapore.
Cheil Malaysia had previously opened in Kuala Lumpur in 2007/2008 and was handling Samsung’s creative account until it shut down in 2009, after which the account was handed to Leo Burnett.
Although Cheil Worldwide is currently the global agency for Samsung, every market in which Samsung operates in may appoint different agencies for different campaigns.
When contacted by A+M, Cheil Singapore confirmed that it is setting up in Kuala Lumpur.
A+M understands that the latest regional Samsung Raya ad (2013) was created by Cheil Singapore. It was handled by a team headed by regional account director Lee Bong Keun.
There is no confirmed launch date of Cheil KL office at the moment.
Cheil Worldwide’s regional offices include Korea, China, India, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Australia.
