CFM Animatch, an animation competition organised by the Communications and Multimedia Consumer Forum of Malaysia (CFM), sees participants producing creative animation videos to deliver messages of issues faced by consumers. The competition also aims to find creative talents in the field of animation. Launched in February 2018, CFM Animatch shortlisted 10 finalists to be mentored for four consecutive weeks to complete their animation videos before the final selection. The messages of the videos cover tips for data usage, fair usage policy, mobile number portability, pop-up ads, home fibre broadband, prepaid validity and network issues. The competition is one of CFM's initiatives to help the public have a understanding of the role of CFM that plays in cultivating self-regulation among consumers, the press release said. The winning and finalists’ videos will be shared on social media, YouTube and TV as public service announcement to guide consumers when faced with communications and multimedia services issues. CFM chairman Mohammad Yusrizal Dato’ Yusoff said it seems animation as a suitable format to deliver the messages that are complex to explain and present issues such as the disruption of fibre broadband. "Furthermore, the bite-size content is shareable in the social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp that is suitable with the current revolving where info is received online," he added.
