Canon makes leadership swap

Malaysia - Canon Marketing Malaysia announced a switch in leadership between its consumer system products (CSP) division, which manages consumer printers, and the imaging communication products (ICP) division, which focuses on cameras, lenses and videos.Donny Ling (pictured left), director of CSP will take the helm of the ICP division, whilst Simon Wong (right) will now assume the role of director of CSP effective 1 April.Joining Canon in 1987, Ling started out as branch executive in Miri and held several key positions throughout his career with Canon including being a regional manager, senior regional manager, assistant director and finally CSP director in 2009.Throughout his tenure as the head for the CSP division, Ling enabled Canon to fortify its position as the leading Inkjet printer brand in Malaysia with a market share consistently exceeding 50% since 1996 till today.Under his leadership, Canon has also won numerous awards within the Asian region including the Canon Asia Marketing Group's President Dynasty Award, Reader's Choice Award and the Trusted Printer Brand.Wong, on the other hand, joined Canon in 1988 as marketing officer selling calculators and typewriters. Within two years, Wong was named Asia's top salesman in 1990.Wong then assumed the role of director of ICP in 2011, carrying 25 years of experience now.Under his direction, this key division has also consistently contributed 45% of Canon's total turnover and has led the company to win several awards.Commenting on their appointment, Melvyn Ho, president and CEO of Canon Marketing Malaysia, said that their proven track record and expertise will lead them to provide fresh insights and new approaches to the their respective divisions.
