Bank Negara launches new mobile service

E-payment provider MyClear has launched MyMobile, a banking service for mobile devices which targets younger consumers.MyMobile's services include account inquiry, credit card inquiry and payment, funds transfer, bill payment, prepaid top-ups and cheque management.The service allows mobile-to-mobile transaction without the internet or SMS and works on any mobile phone, from low-cost basic handsets to smartphonesSubscribers must register with participating banks to receive an access number."The widespread availability of hand phones makes mobile networks a compelling channel for initiating and receiving e-Payments," MyClear chairman Dato' Ooi Sang Kuang (pictured), said."MyMobile service seeks to leverage on that availability in Malaysia to increase access to e-Payments."MyMobile has already teamed up with CIMB Bank, Maybank and Public Bank as well as with telco operators, Maxis, Celcom and DiGi.A marketing campaign launched on 1 March and will run until 29 April with on-ground events, roadshows at universities and colleges, train wraps on LRT Lines from Kelana Jaya to Ampang and advertising on social media.MyClear aims for an annual 16% growth in MyMobile transaction volume.Malaysian Electronic Clearing Corporation (MyClear) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank Negara Malaysia.
