Asia unaffected by Microsoft marketing cuts

Microsoft's recent marketing redundancies will not impact Asia Pacific, a spokesperson for the company told Marketing.Globally, the IT giant laid off around 200 marketing employees in an attempt to streamline its marketing efforts.In a statement to Marketing, the company said it is taking steps to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of marketing and to strengthen career paths for marketers at Microsoft."Some of these changes involved the reduction of a small percentage of marketing positions, to better align our resources with our business needs and clarify roles across the marketing function."Among those being laid off is chief creative officer Gayle Troberman, who was responsible for the ‘I'm a PC', ‘Bing and Decide' and ‘Really?' campaigns for Microsoft.It is estimated that Microsoft has around 6,000 marketing employees worldwide.Microsoft is set to launch a slew of new products in the market this year including phones, PCs and Windows 8.With additional reporting from M&M Global
