To raise awareness of the importance of work environment, Anomaly Shanghai has formed a joint venture baseCO with property developer YiCheng to open a number of co-working spaces in Shanghai. The venture will operate on a time-based membership, whereby customers will be charged only for the time they use the space, including an individual desk, meeting rooms, AV equipment and high speed VPN, as well as offering corporate membership programs that help companies boost productivity of employees as well as wellbeing.“We believe in not only serving clients, but being our own clients. It’s about putting our own money where our mouth is,” said Eric Lee, China CEO and Partner at Anomaly Shanghai. The opening of baseCO reflects the growing number of people that are recognising that there is a real and important link between the places we work, and the productivity and wellbeing of the people who work in them.“In recent years we have witnessed the emergence of greater numbers of people choose to work from coffee shops in China,” said Elvis Chau, Partner and ECD of Anomaly Shanghai.“We saw an opportunity to create spaces that are creatively inspiring, well located, and flexible to use. Yicheng shares our entrepreneurial values and desire to build innovative offering, and was therefore an obvious partner for us to work with.”BaseCO is the third IP venture from Anomaly Shanghai, following the ongoing content franchise The Unreasonable established in 2014, a joint venture with Singaporean collectible art figure maker Mighty Jaxx in 2015 and the first China exhibition with fashion retailer SSUR in recent months.BaseCO currently has two locations already open in Shanghai Anfu Road and Xujiahui, and three more planned in SongYuan Road, Huaihai Road Central, and Beijing.
