Airbnb’s campaign becomes fodder for spoofs [VIDEO]

While one of the hottest companies to watch now, it looks like Airbnb’s campaigns are nothing short of fodder for spoofs for the Internet. While the brand has taken a philosophical note with its latest lush ad campaign by TBWA/Chiat/Day LA, questioning human nature. The ad has actress Angela Bassett’s voice over "Is man kind? Are we good? Go see. Go look through their windows so you can understand their views. Sit at their tables so you can share their tastes. Sleep in their beds so you may know their dreams. Go see and find out just how kind the he’s and she’s of this mankind are."Here’s a refresher if you forgot:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xegsh1CmPUThis has spawned some hilarious spoofs. Here’s one by news site The Verge.“Something about the new Airbnb commercial, in which a toddler clumsily walks toward a front door glowing with natural light, just doesn't feel quite right. Maybe it's the voiceover, which aspires for Terrence Malick by way of Don Draper. Yeah, it's definitely the voiceover. Why use faux-poetic, over-simplistic, life-affirming wannabe-Malick, when you can just use the real, complex, makes-you-think-about-the-fragility-of-life-instead-of-staying-in-some-stranger's-dirty-basement thing,” says the Verge.Watch the video here. And another hilarious one by digital agency Portal A:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aJtXt8-JtcThe video shows a half naked man walking around in an apartment, while a dreamy voiceover says: “He watched porn in your kitchen, and that rash he has, you’ll have it by next week,” ending the video with #creepy. (Thanks for bringing that out guys, we’ll never look at an Airbnb stay the same way again.)On the bright side for Airbnb, all these videos refer back to the original campaign, so looks like that’s extra mileage on the campaign. But Airbnb’s no stranger to internet trolling. Who could forget the time it debuted its logo to wide internet outcry, with many likening the logo to a butt or vagina?Still, it looks like it’s not stopping the company’s mad growth. Muscle on, Airbnb.
