AirAsia has launched the “AirAsia Live it Up in the Air Challenge”, where cabin crew hopefuls will get a chance to be a cabin crew trainee on an AirAsia flight for five days. This challenge will be driven primarily via social media. AirAsia will be heading down to Orchard Cineleisure as well as tertiary education institutions Singapore Institute of Management and Temasek Polytechnic to call for entries. Interested contestants can submit a short 30-second video at specially set-up booths at the various locations to let the public vote on who they think should be selected. SG$20,000 worth of prizes will be up for grabs for contestants as well as public voters who will be part of the selection process.

Essilor campaigns for healthier eyes

Eye care specialist, Essilor Singapore has launched a new campaign titled ‘So Safe, So Clear’ to introduce the Crizal UV lenses, which provides front and back UV protection. The campaign runs from October to December 2012 on platforms on TV, out-of-home (OOH) and online. All creative, media and public relations work for this campaign were undertaken by Vibes Communications. Essilor Singapore will also launch publicity efforts through creative street guerrilla activities in the form of a mock protest, with ‘protestors’ campaigning for UV protection for the eyes.

Gong Cha draws in customers

Beverage retailer Gong Cha has embarked on its first interactive outdoor campaign with SPH MediaBoxOffice (SPHMBO) using its large digital video wall at 313@somerset. The interactive game, which begins from 24 October 2012, aims to draw consumers to it’s “Guess the Drawing (on-screen) and Win SG$1 Milk Tea with Pearl vouchers. Technology partner NoiseStreet developed the interactive game. To participate, one has to scan the QR code or type in the URL into their smartphone to begin guessing. Five correct guesses entitles a consumer to win a Gong Cha voucher. Gong Cha is the first beverage partner to embark on an interactive large screen campaign with SPHMBO.

Mishal Husain meets returns

BBC’s show Mishal Husain Meet will return for a second series, with guests ranging from a Malaysian celebrity chef and an award-winning Chinese actress to the only woman to run an F1 team. The show is filmed at the NYU Tisch School of The Arts in Singapore and the series is fronted by Mishal Husain, one of BBC World News’ most prominent reporters. In addition to presenting ‘Impact’ on BBC World News, Husain is also the presenter of news bulletins on BBC1 and Newsnight on BBC2.
