AIA jumps on board as new title sponsor for Singapore Premier League

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has partnered with AIA Singapore as the new title sponsor of Singapore’s professional sports league. It will now be known as the AIA Singapore Premier League (SPL).As part of the two-year agreement, AIA Singapore will also be the title sponsor for the AIA Community Shield, which is an annual affair that kicks off the local football season. Under this partnership, both FAS and AIA look to leverage on the SPL clubs’ ties with the communities and schools as part of AIA’s commitment to encourage football development in youths through various outreach initiatives.FAS president Lim Kia Tong said that through this partnership with AIA Singapore, the company aims to achieve its goal of improving the vibrancy of local football and raising the standards of football in Singapore. He added that in line with the FAS’ objective of increasing participation at the grassroots level, there are also plans to work together to reach out and target the community, especially the youth. "I am certain that together with AIA Singapore, we will be able to do more and we look forward to having a fruitful partnership," he said.Patrick Teow, chief executive officer, AIA Singapore said AIA has strong ties with football through its global partnership with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club (Spurs), thus it makes supporting local football a natural choice for the company."We are also exploring opportunities to tap into our Spurs partnership to provide Singapore opportunities to engage with the English Premier League club, particularly ahead of their tour of Asia this year. These are new initiatives we are introducing as part of AIA Centennial celebrations, as we aim to deliver on our promise to enable healthier, longer and better lives in Singapore," he added.Throughout 2019, AIA Singapore has lined up a series of marquee events and initiatives. It kickstarted the campaign last month, with the launch of AIA Smart G3, a three year single premium endowment plan. The insurance company will also be introducing a new mascot, Buddy, on its dedicated microsite and interactive game.
