A.S. Watson Group has revealed that since its launch, its “Give a Smile” campaign has so far funded surgery for around 1,500 children born with facial disfigurements.
The campaign is part of a global long-term partnership made in 2018 with Operation Smile, a charitable organisation providing corrective surgery to children born with facial disfigurements. Missions as part of the campaign include trips abroad to treat conditions such as cleft palates, including a mission to Mae Sot, Thailand.
To take part in these activities, and enhance the company’s social responsibility roadmap, A.S. Watson has established a global Millennials Corporate Social Responsibility Committee featuring 14 young members.
Malina Ngai, CEO for A.S. Watson in Asia and Europe commented, “Millennials care not just about themselves, but also about the world and society they are living in. We’re excited to hear the team’s views on areas they care about, which also means our customers will care about.”
The selected youths on the committee hail from 11 markets across Asia and Europe and have the goal of driving change within the organisation and becoming its Sustainable Development Goals Accelerator Team.
Iryna Danevich, learning and development manager of Watsons Ukraine, said. “It’s love that drives volunteers from different backgrounds to join this mission which changes the life of the children. I believe the smallest and yet the most valuable thing we can do for each other is to care. Care about ourselves, care about others, especially the needy around us.”
