Over the weekend, Google’s email service Gmail had its power outage. Quick to pick up on its competitor’s downfall, Yahoo sent out a simple tweet that said “Gmail was temporarily unavailable”.
Had the incident stopped there, it looks like Yahoo would have gotten away with it. But that’s not how this turned out.
The folks at Yahoo then felt a little guilt-stricken and tweeted an apology. Now, the apology has since actually gotten Yahoo flak for being a “coward”.
Maybe next time Yahoo, don’t play nice.
