Volkswagen China will recall 49,480 vehicles in China due to brake design problems.
The company said a defective noise filter on brake boosters may cause malfunction of the brake system after cruising.
The recall involves imported Beetles produced between July 1, 2012 and Aug. 6, 2015, and imported Golf Variants produced between July 1, 2012 and July 6, 2013, according to a statement from China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
The recall will start from February 6.
Volkswagen Group of America is also recalling nearly 136,000 Audi and Volkswagen vehicles since the control unit for the antilock brake system in these vehicles may fail when the system or the vehicle’s electronic stability control are activated.
