Twitter goes on aggressive hiring spree

Twitter has been on an aggressive hiring spree, adding several digital heavyweights to its Asia Pacific team.

Its most recent hire is young social media whiz Christel Quek, who was previously the regional social business lead at Samsung Asia. Quek was retrenched in a region-wide move by Samsung to cut its staff last year. Quek made the announcement on her blog.  Her new title is regional content lead (Asia, Middle East, Africa) at Twitter.

She reports to newly appointed Freddie Covington, international marketing director at Twitter. Covington, previously the lead marketer for Microsoft, Asia Pacific, joined Twitter this month.

Twitter has also hired Steve Kalifowitz as brand strategy & advocacy lead. Kalifowitz was previously group director at R/GA. He joined in November last year.

Twitter’s new managing director of sales covering SEA, Middle East and North Africa, Parminder Singh was also appointed in November last year.

Singh was previously the managing director, Asia Pacific for Google’s display business.

Dickson Seow, previously the comms lead for Google, has also joined Twitter, in charge of comms duties.

While Twitter could not be reached at the time of publishing, Quek has put out an open call on her blog, asking interested candidates to reach out to Twitter’s HR department in San Francisco.
